3 Gardening Jobs for Spring

Grab your gloves, get outside, and make the most of the season—your garden will thank you for it!

1. Tidy,Prune & Trim.

Winter can leave behind a mess of fallen leaves, broken branches, and debris. Start by:

  • Raking up leaves and clearing out weeds.
  • Cut back dead or damaged branches.
  • Prune shrubs to encourage new growth but be careful not to prune spring-flowering shrubs too early.
  • Trim hedges to maintain shape.

2. Prepare Your Soil

Healthy soil is the foundation of a successful garden. Spend time:

  • Turning over beds to improve aeration, add compost & remove stones and break up compacted soil.
  • Sow hardy annuals directly outdoors and plant summer flowering bulbs like lilies or dahlias.Vegetables like peas, lettuce or carrots can be planted now too.

3. Lawn Care

Your lawn will likely need some attention after winter:

  • Rake to remove moss.
  • Reseed bare patches.
  • Begin mowing regularly, but keep the blades high at first

A little care now will result in a lush, green lawn throughout the season.
